Residents are generally well-supported by program leadership, who are receptive to feedback and open to implementing changes. The title speaks for its self. The communication is non existent. Task are set to be difficult and tedious with no rhyme of reason.

My typical day at work is very structured, team-based, and fast-paced. I've learned a vast array of medical knowledge and scientific methodologies in the short amount of time I've been here. The management does a good job of promoting people in the order they deserve. The hardest part about my job is retaining all the knowledge thrown at you every day.

Good employer overall, staffing is brutal at times management is heavy and a lot of pointless projects that suck valuable time like any hospital but acuity at OHSU is higher.
The academic environment means it is fast-paced but you are always learning. Good support for nursing. A lot of variety in nursing positions. Magnet hospital nurses really can make a difference here. You can move up and really make a difference if you are career-driven.
Pros dynamic, good pay and benefits. Cons short staffed, missed breaks, technologically behind. Production and repeat if pretty much what you do here. They will take care of the next employee better than the last though. Just like many hospitals inpatient staff feel tired and stretched thin. Management used to be very attuned to nursing and in the past few years there has been a shift in prioritizing nursing importance to the bottom dollar. Depending on the unit the culture is great, and nurses love it and stay forever.

The providers were some of the best I've ever worked with but the workload was for three people and I hit many issues with management gaslighting all the workers below them. When my coworkers and I were able to get a hold of our manager, he would say how our "numbers" are the same so we wouldn't need additional staffing even though our patients and providers have increased over the years and especially with COVID all the tasks were taking much longer.
