By Will Brinson. Feb 28, at pm ET 1 min read. That's unlikely to hurt his draft stock, however. This draft is loaded with talented defensive linemen and linebackers, and like Allen, Solomon Thomas is a player who will likely make a living as a talented interior rusher.
The Stanford product had a solid afternoon, as did Derek Barnett, who ran a 4. A few other players of note had solid afternoons, including J. Watt's younger brother T. Reddick feasibly could play any linebacker position on the field, given his ability to both rush the passer and cover tight ends. His showing at the combine could launch him into the first round. And then there was Jabrill Peppers, who ran a solid 4. He even looked good rushing the passer.
Looking forward to seeing him do some DB drills too. In a loaded and talented group of players on Sunday, it wasn't easy to stand out. Garrett justifiably was the center of attention, but the versatility and athleticism of Peppers was certainly a highlight later in the day as well.
Many of the top defensive backs helped their draft stocks on Monday, though the case of Marshon Lattimore became more complicated after he was injured. It doesn't appear to be serious, however. Wasn't a hamstring injury, it's my hip flexor. I'm good y'all lol. Oh, and so was his impressive 4. If teams aren't too concerned with his injury past, Lattimore very well could be a top pick. Another potential top pick, safety Jamal Adams, didn't post the impressive numbers that Lattimore showed, but he nonetheless remains an intriguing prospect.
Certainly, his excellent tape will keep him in the running to even be selected in the top five picks. Hooker couldn't participate in the testing and drills, however, as he recovers from a a torn labrum and sports hernia. A few players improved their stock with strong testing, meanwhile, none more than Minnesota cornerback Jalen Myrick, who ran a blazing 4.
Ohio State's Gareon Conley had a strong day as well and solidified his standing as a top pick, while Obi Melifonwu's combination of size, athleticism and speed at safety could launch him into the late-first round conversation. Frankly, Monday was mostly a good day for the top cornerback prospects. Sidney Jones tested well. Adoree Jackson and Marlon Humphrey both ran well. Quincy Wilson didn't run a blazing time but it was sufficient for a player of his size and playing style.
The Gators' CB1 arrived in Indy amid questions regarding his speed, quickness and technique, and he did little to alleviate those concerns. Tabor not only clocked a pedestrian yard dash time 4. From his ragged turns and transitions to his lackluster burst in the W-drill, Tabor certainly didn't impress scouts with his movement skills. In a draft loaded with talent on the perimeter, Tabor's subpar workout could lead to a drop down the charts.
