I can't see anything making it illegal unless there are signs stating you cannot park there. I honestly don't like parking opposite peoples driveways, but my girlfriends house is located on a corner and the only place I can park is on the pavement or in the road directly in front of the opposite neighbours driveway. If someone is already parked on the pavement, that leaves only the road to park in. Now the A--hole over the road keeps coming to knock and tell me to move because "if I knock your car while pulling out, is your insurance going to cover it?

Again, they're doing absolutely nothing wrong in the eyes of the law, even if they're denying you access to that much-needed last parking space. Vehicles parked across dropped kerbs can be ticketed, even if they're not fully blocking it. But parking very close to a dropped kerb or directly opposite it isn't illegal, even if it restricts access.

A strange legal loophole means anyone can park on your driveway - and there's not much you can do about it. Question: Please could someone advise me about whether or not it is permissable to park opposite a driveway on a narrow road?

CoolVX Original Poster 57 posts months. Just looking for some advice regarding a current situation involving myself and my neighbour. I dont have a driveway, so have to park my 2 cars on the street outside my living room window where I can keep an eye on them after a spate of car vandalism.

The neighbour opposite has a large driveway with a dropped kerb. The road isnt narrow and is 2 lanes wide. The neighbour has recently been moaning about my cars being parked opposite his driveway, and has issued some threats about reporting it to the police etc. I am just wondering where the law stands on all of this? Can he get the police involved as i dont think any law is being broken?

The neighbour has a narrow driveway which sits at a strange angle which doesnt help the situation. The neighbour wants me to park my cars around the corner and out of view, but this is a big no no due to previous vandalism I have suffered! The neighbour wants to have the whole street outside our properties clear, so that they can park their cars and their visitors cars on the street outside MY house. Just to make the whole situation better, said neighbour has been moaning about it with the neighbours on the street which makes me look like the bad guy.
